THE HEART PROGRAM IS GROWING!
THE LOCKER LEARNING CENTER WILL OPEN THE BEGINNING OF THE 2018/2019 SCHOOL YEAR!
WOW! Gena Wilson’s 5th grade class at West Valley School spearheaded a school-wide change drive for the HEART Program, raising over ONE THOUSAND ($1000!!!) dollars for our students and families!
Whitefish Credit Union has donated a MASSIVE collection of clothing, supplies, and funds to the HEART Program to ensure that our students stay warm and clothed for the rest of the winter! Thank you Whitefish Credit Union!
The HEART Program has graciously been chosen as an annual recipient of the Park Side Partner Program! Park Side Credit Union’s support of the HEART Program will allow us to begin the process of expanding the HEART Locker into the other half of our gym, keeping us on schedule to open the latest addition to our program, the HEART Locker Learning Center, on the first day of the 2018-19 school year! This community-minded financial institution is going to assist us in a true partnership within our Flathead Valley and beyond. Park Side is supporting our organization in a myriad of way to get the word out for our new Learning Center and have generously donated $5000 toward our important project.
This holiday season was SO, SO good to our students! Family Life Christian Church, McDonald’s, J2 Office Supplies, Big Sky I.V. Care, Sabrina Wisher and McKayla’s Miracles Foundation, The Kalispell Lions Club, The Boys and Girls Club of Columbia Falls, Costco, and MANY, MANY other individuals and groups throughout our community ensured that our students were able to enjoy the holiday break.
10/27 A huge THANKS to PAUL AND JULE ANDES for donating their time to provide Kalispell Schools Seniors in need with Photo Shoots and Graduation Announcements at no cost to them. Paul is an extremely talented professional photographer who treats these kids like the very special and beautiful humans they are. Please check out Paul’s work at: Paul Andes Imagery
THANK YOU TO OUR KALISPELL FIRE DEPT.
Operation Warm-Up, Coats for Kids was a huge success this year. Our Firefighters already do so much for our community, and yet they keep on giving. This year the Kalispell Fire Fighters put 200 coats on kids in need. If you want to help them, help us, participate in their annual 3 on 3 Basket Ball Tournament.
A Big Thanks to National Flood for providing
TONS of backpack for our students in need.
You make a big difference with your continued

These wonderful and big-HEARTed people donated their time to stand in front of local grocery markets and collect food from generous shoppers. They donated half of their collection to the HEART Program and half to the FLATHEAD FOOD BANK (Who Also Always Supports Our Markets).

JESCO MARINE AND POWER SPORTS
is now a HEART LOCKER HERO!
They donated over $1200 worth of brand new
Socks and Underpants. As if that was not
enough, they sent in a $1000 check. This Valley is extremely fortunate to have a local business as generous and giving go out of their way to help our struggling youth. We also need to thank the BEACON for making this wonderful connection happen.
Can you believe these Lion HEARTED People? The Kalipsell LIONS Club donated $2500 to the HEART Fund. This is the LARGEST Donation we have ever seen. This amount of money will fully fund our little program for five months. Wow! Our community appreciates all you do and you know that you have our HEARTS over here at the Locker.
Flathead Quilters Guild
The Flathead Quilt Guild is A Wonderful Group of People, Ages 9 to 99, From Everywhere in the Valley, With a Little or a Lot of Quilting Experience. THE HEART LOCKER NEEDS YOU!
We are in need of a few of volunteers for Wednesday evenings, for a couple of hours between 3 & 6pm. I am looking for people that like to work with kids and have an eye for fashion. The tasks include picking up and organizing the store, as well as acting as a personal shopper for students that come into the Locker for the supplies they need to be prepared for school.
PLEASE CALL NICHOLE AT: (406) 751-3630
Little Miss Olivia Made a BIG Difference: This lovely young lady decided that for her Birthday she wanted shoes. Unlike most young ladies, these shoes were to be given to the HEART Locker for kids that rarely have a new pair of shoes. Boy did her guests come through. Thanks to her parents that have raised just a generous and kind human. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
The NEW YEAR is upon us, and we are already in need of some more school supplies. School has not yet started and we have already helped 46 kids get the school supplies, school clothing, and personal hygiene products they will need. We will see twice that many over the next couple of weeks and could really use some more school supplies. Call on your coworkers, family, friends, neighbors, anyone that can help with our supply. School supplies are extremely inexpensive this time of year, so a small donation can go a LONG way.
A HUGE THANK YOU TO THE TEMPLE DECOR TATTOOS & BODY PIERCING!
The owner of this fine establishment spent 3 full, long, grueling days piercing for a good cause. Charlie raised enough personal hygiene products to take care of the students I work with for the next 9 months. One mans mission to help out the kids in our community; mission accomplished kind sir.
Wow! What a night. Thank you to Nicole and the entire Sage & Cedar staff. These ladies know how to put on one heck of an event, and are the most generous and fabulous woman around. Welcome to Kalispell Sage & Cedar, we are extremely lucky to have you. I also want to thank all of the ladies that came out and helped to support the HEART Locker. This event was an amazing success, and we cannot wait to participate again next year.
Thank you to all of the Girls Scouts, and Scout Moms that showed up to put out all of the Spring/Summer clothing. The Locker looks great, and is ready for shoppers.
A BIG Thank you to Cowgirl Coffee! They collected hundreds of amazing products for the students that use the Locker and the Markets. All of the products are from Arbonne International, and will allow students to try fun all natural products. Stop in, order some coffee, and say thank you to this local business making a difference.
The HEART Locker is in need of a volunteer for Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5:30pm. I am looking for someone fun, that wants to help students. The job involves helping “shoppers” find what they need and bringing sorted items out onto the floor.
Call me if you are interested: (406)751-3630
This is the season to be thankful, and the HEART Locker has a LOT to be thankful for this year. Sarah Safford handmade every high school student on my list a lovely Christmas stocking. Inside those stockings the students will receive some fancy chocolate, a $10 gift card to get some lunch, a little Guardian Angel, and a hair cut HEART Ticket. These are the wonderful and talented local Salons that wanted to donate hair cuts:
Soucie Soucie Salon & Medispa
Amore Salon and Spa
Bella Colour Salon
Edge Salon, Posh 125, Shorty’s Barbershop, Raj Salon, and Mad Hair Salon
WOW, What a night last Tuesday was! The WWWK (Woman Who Wine Kalispell), along with the Flathead Community Foundation donated $2,000.00 to the HEART Program and the same to eleven other area nonprofits. Both of these fine organizations go FAR above and beyond to help support our area, so be sure you support them in turn.
What happens when a group of Girls get together and decide to Scout out a problem?
A Locker is filled with the sounds of giggling girls working hard to help kids in their community!
This group of Girls Scouts can get a 5 hour job done in 2.5 hours, which means time for a pizza party and plenty of fun. I need to thank Natasha and her mother (Kelly) for setting up this day of help. We have put the summer clothing away, and have plenty of warm sweater and coats available for students that might otherwise not have what they need.
** The Locker is in need of boys pants. Jeans and sporting pants for little and teen boys.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
The new school year is upon us, and the Locker is BUSY. School supplies are low, but morale is not. We have plenty of clothing and volunteers to help restock our racks and shelves. The Markets are going to need some love in the form of granola bars and other snacks, so please keep those donations coming in. A BIG Thanks to Mark Flatau for this amazingly wonderful new space and continued support. We are truly making a difference, as I have seen over 40 students get what they need to start the school year off right. I expect at least 40 more in tomorrow.** Update- Over 125 kids have passed through our doors as of 9/9.
WOW! Laurie Smith and the entire staff at our local Glacier Bank offices have donated over 4,500 items to help fill the new HEART Locker. They cleaned out their closets and even purchased new items, and as a result the Locker is BURSTING with things that the students will need for this upcoming school year. As for me, my Heart is bursting with joy that a business like Glacier Bank takes the time to care about our local community. If you know Laurie Smith, give her a pat on the back, as she truly was the driving force behind this wonderful effort.
HEART LOCKER HAS MOVED TO 514 E. Washington St. (right behind Taco Bell)
A lot has happened in the last few weeks. The HEART LOCKER has MOVED! Today was moving day, and with the Flathead Football Team and Coach Kyle Samson there to help, it was a breeze. I would also like to thank Jeff Hornby, Lisa Wolfe, and Randi Flaa, as well as the entire grounds and maintenance staff for School District #5. The next steps are: some coats of paint, moving my office, getting the shelves set up again, and then setting up the store. It will take a few weeks, but we will be better than ever and ready to go well before the August rush to get ready for school to resume.
We will have regular donation hours with receipts on hand for donors, and will also be more easily accessible for students at our new location.
Last week the HEART LOCKER received about 300 pairs of shoes that were left behind by Spartan Racers that thought they were too dirty to take home. My head volunteer, Lisa Schulz(my mom) and I sorted through the shoes and found 150 pairs of these shoes were in very good condition. So, like a couple of crazy people, my mother and I sprayed off the shoes that were encased in mud and then washed them in big tubs with soap and water. The end result, 150 pairs of perfectly good sneakers that would have ended up in the landfill. I have already seen about 20 pairs get a second chance to log some miles.
It is Give Local Flathead Day! It is a special day, set aside once a year to honor local charities that make a difference in OUR community. Please log on and donate $10 to the HEART Fund, even that amount can make a big difference when these kids are in need of something. You are appreciated.

Well, it was a productive weekend at the HEART Locker. A BIG thanks to the Glacier High students that worked diligently to get the spring/summer clothing out on the racks. I do wish we had some more summer shoes for the kids. So, please look over your/your child’s summer shoes and see if there is a pair of FLIP FLOPS, in good shape, that are just begging to get flipped and flopped.
